Frequently asked questions.
How and when do I pay? Do you want half up front?
We lay out the payment terms in your construction contract. Typically, we ask for a small percentage no later than 2 weeks before we start. This locks your place on the schedule. Because our projects are usually very intricate, half-and-half simply doesn’t work.
We ask for milestone-based payments. When we finish something big, we get paid! This is all detailed in your contract.
Payment is usually made electronically through the invoice or via check. Other methods are available, just ask!
When will you start? How long is my project going to take?
Once you've signed the contract, you'll have a due date on the invoice and a projected start date. We strive to hit that date. Unfortunately, sometimes we can't. Weather, sick or injured crew members... there's no way to predict. You can expect delays (or accelerated timelines, which happen frequently!) to be communicated as soon as we know.
Each project is unique. Your project manager will communicate an estimate of how long projects like yours typically take. We will update you throughout the project with any changes.
Are you “licensed and insured”?
Yes, but that might not mean what you think it means! We’ve all seen that plastered on trucks and vans. “Licensed” usually refers to a business license, not a professional license. In Georgia, anyone contracting over $2500 must have a contractor’s license.
Be sure your contractor is actually allowed to be one! Click here and look them up! If they’re not found, that’s not a good sign! RBCO007179 just in case you wondered!
Finally, insurance is also very easy to get, and the minimum for general liability likely isn’t enough if the worst happens. We carry $2 million.
